The Dark Knight and .me domains

Posted Jul 27 '08

Hey interwebs,

I should have given some supplementary details in today's video, but I held back for brevity's sake. Here are some of the things I talk about:

  • The Dark Knight - The new Batman movie starring Christian Bale.
  • Top Level Domain (TLD) - Anything that comes after the actual name of an Internet domain, for example, .com, .net, .org, and the new one, .me.
  • ICANN - The organization that creates new TLDs.
  • Kevin Rose - The creator of Digg and some other extremely popular websites.
  • tweet - A post made to Twitter, a site for microblogging and a place where people make frequent status updates.

Today's question:
What do you think about the new .me domains?

As the king of an amoral universe, as a purveyor of unrestricted evil for fun, Ledger’s dastardly villain, attired as sort of a rotting Clarabell, has chosen his own damnation. He’s jumped into an abyss he has dug himself, and he wants to pull us along.

Heath Ledger's performance is already legendary. He really went out with a bang!

That ended sort of abruptly, but I didn't mind too much. Yay for Dark Knight! In response to your question, I don't really know anything about .me domains, except for the fact that you bought one.

I actually bought several, and I know people that bought a lot more. I just can't decide if it's all hype or if the .me extension is really going to have some staying power unlike other uncommon TLDs.
