First of many videos...

Hey everyone,

Video blogging is something that I've been wanting to do for a long time, because it's a much stronger way to connect. Right now, this is just an experiment, but it's something that I want to take further.

Let me know what you think of this video, and the idea in general!

WTF?

Feedback is always welcome, and a WTF actually says a lot about your first impressions. Would you care to elaborate? :) What sparked a WTF in your mind?

By reading your posts I can tell you know what you're talking about, and I have also taken into consideration that this is the first time you've taken on this type of project.

But...

What sparked the WTF comment was that you were way too animated. Sometimes certain people decide to take on a different more animated persona when they do projects like this. That's fine if that's the way you want to go, but you have to make it believable.

By the way you are setting up this blog you come across as someone who wants to be themselves. Well...you have to make that believable too. Unfortunately for me I didn't buy it. People who put video blogs out there that come across as too animated, tend to immediately turn people off. That sort of person is someone people don't gravitate to or take seriously, I can tell by the google ads and constant applications you create that that is not what you want.

So my suggestion is for the next video keep it as real as you can. Personality is always great but think of your audience as you best friend. You would (if you're a good friend) normally just talk to them straight with the appropriate kind of enthusiasm.

I'm a big fan of blogs and whether they are video or not the ones that keep my attention are the ones that keep it real.

Thanks for your thoughtful post Alex!

Your commentary is similar to the feedback I received from others, and I totally agree. They also told me to sit a little further back from the camera.

Most of my prior experience in front of an audience comes from theater and television commercials from years ago, so I'm used to amplifying my thoughts and personality in this way. I'll work on toning it down and cranking up the real-o-meter before my next post.

Thanks again, I really do appreciate it!

Any lurkers out there care to jump in? :)
